College of Agriculture & Life Sciences Student Assembly Representative

Jesse Pollard (jtp96)

Attach:2017JTP96.jpg Δ

I’m running for Student Assembly to ensure the SA is restructured to increase representation of marginalized communities, identities, and causes on campus. The gap between College Reps and their constituents is absurd— a more diffused representation structure can bring issues to light that otherwise would remain hidden. In addition, I want to expand our dialogue on sexual assault outside the heteronormative focus to include institutions and high risk situations not typically discussed; as such, I want to collaborate with bystander intervention organizations, the LGBT Resource Center and student orgs to develop a more inclusive training program for all intervention cases. Furthermore, I believe first-year students should have access to gender inclusive housing; support increased measures to affirm the University’s pledge to become carbon neutral (including divestment from fossil fuel industries); advocate for reduced/terminated ‘non-punitive fees’ for the BASICS program, as well as improved transparency regarding NYS/Federal Law on campus crime reporting/action. Lastly, I support efforts to increase implicit bias awareness training for professional staff, as well as efforts to improve faculty diversity holistically. Thank you!

Renee Morris (rlm428)

Attach:2017RLM428.jpg Δ

Hi, I’m Renee and I’m in junior in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences focusing on Managerial and Legal Communications within the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. I began my college career at Tompkins Cortland Community College where I achieved my Associate degree in Sociology before transferring into Cornell. Growing up in Trumansburg, New York, just a short drive outside of Ithaca, Cornell has been a tremendous influence on my life, and for as long as I can remember, Cornell has been what I strove for. To have finally reached my childhood dream of attending Cornell, is in itself, enough proof to display my determination and willpower to achieve the things I want, and I believe that this translates to my ability to follow through with the things I promise. As the CALS Representative, I would be the voice for all CALS students and I would bring this determination and willpower to bring about positive changes to the college, and the university. As the CALS Representative, I promise to listen to each and every student and staff voice and work in their best interest to bring about the changes that we wish to see in the college and the university. With me as your representative, you will always have a voice.

Sushruta Iruvanti (ski8)

Attach:2017SKI8.jpg Δ

Hi! My name is Sushruta Iruvanti, and it is with great enthusiasm that I am running to be your CALS Representative to the Student Assembly. I have demonstrated my ability to take action and bring about change on West Campus, where I am working to restore the House Cup tradition. I would love to bring my drive to the SA, where the capacity for change is greater. We have some of the brightest minds in our CALS faculty and I would like for students to be able to discuss issues that they care about with experts in their fields. I plan to propose joint student-faculty discussions on topics such as healthcare, climate change, international economics, and others. In addition, I am a strong supporter of Cornell’s Climate Action Plan and hope to work with CALS faculty, administrators, and students to quicken our path to carbon-neutrality. I always welcome suggestions for changes you want on campus, but I also want to create a process where students can more easily and anonymously pose suggestions to the SA. This way, the issues that are most important to you can be acted on more quickly and efficiently. I eagerly await the opportunity to bring about change on campus, and will bring passion and dedication to the CALS Representative role.

College of Arts & Sciences Student Assembly Representative

Daniel Engelson (dse37)

Attach:2017DSE37.jpg Δ

I am Daniel Engelson, and I want to represent the College of Arts and Sciences as a college representative. As a third year active member of Class Councils I have had the opportunity to plan large-scale high impact events for the student body. My passions lie in public service, and I hope to continue to affect positive change on campus. The first thing I want to do is to turn Willard Straight Hall into a functioning, exciting, and welcoming Student Union. It is my strong belief that WSH needs to become more lively, as well as a student-central haven for the CU community. At other schools, the Student Union is a well-known, high trafficked place. That needs to be the case here. Next, I want as many students as possible involved, and an increased awareness of what happens on campus. I know that CU students are extremely busy. However, there are over a dozen committees under the SA that any student can join. The SA is a council acting for the people. Each one of you deserves to be heard, and deserves the chance to get involved. I want to reach out to all major organizations on campus, and hear what they have to say about what is occurring at this school. This is essential to having a fully democratic student body.

Dara Tokunboh (oat8)

Attach:2017OAT8.jpg Δ

Hi everyone! It would be such a privilege to serve as your A&S representative. I love this school so much for so many reasons, but the people here, along with terrace quesadillas, are what make that love grow every day. I want the opportunity to do something with the passion I have for this school and its people, and to be a part changing it for the better. There are a few key areas that need more attention at Cornell. First is appropriations, which determines how much money campus and student organizations are entitled to. I would like to focus on allocating this fairly and wisely, especially in areas that carry a lot of weight, like Slope Day. I also want to capitalize on sexual assault prevention, and providing people with group counseling that comes without a fee, so that they can have the confidence and support to speak up. I believe we are a community that thrives when we are celebrating each other so I want to ensure that Cornell is inclusive towards everyone. This place has been a home for me and everyone deserves that experience. Mostly, I just want to be the approachable person that YOU can come to in order to voice your ideas and concerns. It would be an honor to represent A&S on the student assembly. Thank you for your consideration.

Evan Shapiro (ers253)

Attach:2017ERS253.jpg Δ

Hello, my name is Evan Shapiro and I am running for the College of Arts and Sciences’ representative to the Student Assembly. Arts and Sciences recently released the first draft of the plan for a new curriculum for the college. My main goal for this term is to work with the deans and the faculty on revising the curriculum to suit the needs and wants of the students. I want to make sure that the voice of the students is heard on this very important issue, because we are the ones that will be affected the most by any change in policy. One of the many changes I would advocate for is a greater emphasis on “service” courses - classes where students gain skills that they will use in their future both at Cornell and later in their careers. One way I want to accomplish this is to make the deans of the college more available to hear students concerns on issues. I would also love to see more opportunities for the deans to meet with the student body and hear student’s opinions on the issues that we care about the most. I would reach out to the deans with my new position, and ask them to have more open forums which would be accessible to all students. Thanks for reading, and don’t forget, “Be a Hero, Vote Shapiro.”

Olivia Corn (osc23)

Attach:2017OSC23.jpg Δ

Hi! My name is Olivia Corn. I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, with a major in History and minors in Jewish Studies, East Asian Studies, and Near Eastern Studies. As Arts and Sciences representative, I will work toward: 1). Ensuring students do not have to pay ridiculous amounts for textbooks -Making course packets available online for a small fee instead of having to buy the packets in store for over-inflated prices 2). Asking the students how they feel about median course grades: -Polling the student body and get their opinion- then make an informed decision 3). Making sure that students can come to head administrators in the College of Arts and Sciences and adequately feel like their concerns have been listened to -Transparency Thank you for taking the time to read my platform and make sure to vote Corn for Cornell!

College of Engineering Student Assembly Representative

Dale Barbaria (dkb78)

Attach:2017DKB78.jpg Δ

I, Barbaria, may not have 56 years of experience, but last spring, I served one semester as your college representative. This year I have been Parliamentarian of the Student Assembly and some of the work I have done will lead to the option for faculty members to include syllabi on the class roster, provide student input on this year’s academic calendar changes, increase coherence in SA documents, and help foster discussion on laptop policies in classrooms. If elected to the Student Assembly, I promise to use this experience to: 1) Make the Student Assembly focus on researching student issues 2) Create a more streamlined process for appealing Student Activities Funding Commission (SAFC) problems through the Student Assembly so that more students can get access to necessary funds; and 3) Improve the Assembly’s Communications Committee so that more students can understand how to use the Student Assembly to make changes on campus.

Rebecca Herz (reh268)

Attach:2017REH268.jpg Δ

As the college of Engineering Representative, I hope to continue to improve the policies that affects students both academically and in regards to campus life. The voices of engineering students tend to get lost in Cornell’s system of shared governance at Cornell and my goal is to create a platform where all voices can be heard and actual change can be accomplished. I hope to increase faculty adherence to policies that are set in place to protect students such as no work over academic breaks, making syllabi available before enrollment and many other policies that are not strictly enforced by the college of engineering. I hope that the students of the college of engineering will put their faith in me to accurately represent them to Cornell’s administrators for another year and to continue my work with the Student Assembly.

College of Human Ecology Student Assembly Representative

Antonio Del Vecchio (acd238)

Attach:2017ACD238.jpg Δ

As a transfer student, former student trustee of my previous college, and numerous years of experience serving in student government, Model Congress, and Model UN, I possess the skills and experience necessary to accurately represent and serve the constituents of the College of Human Ecology. I promise as your elected official to serve all populations, and to work on issues that are grossly effecting the students. These include, but are not limited to, transfer students requiring extra semesters of study at Cornell due to transferred credits, Diversity among Student Assembly, improving student-administration relations within the College of Human Ecology, and much more. It is my initiative to strive for an even better campus, and work on what is conflicting my peers. As a representative on the Student Assembly, I will put 100% of my effort, attention, and time into the work and legislation that I will propose for you, the students.

Omar Din (ofd4)

Attach:2017OFD4.jpg Δ

Human ecology brings a unique passion, focused by rigorous study, into the social problems facing our world. We believe in translating our studies directly into knowledge for the benefit of all. Because of this, HumEc must have a leading voice on the SA. I will apply the HumEc framework into issues of financial appropriations, social justice, and student rights. As your representative I will actively work to improve the conditions of both our HumEc and Cornell community. My main goals are: 1) Maintaining open access and transparency: I will send out updates and hold consistent forums in order to open the conversation to All HumEc students. My role will be just as much about communicating your interests to the SA as it is communicating the work of the SA to you. 2) Advocate for Cornell to become a sanctuary Campus: As one of the most diverse colleges on campus, it is our duty to ensure that we are truly committed to maintaining any person any study. 3) Ensure that transfer admissions stays need blind: With one of the highest proportions of transfer students (myself included), it is vital that we vocally reject any measure which could prohibit certain students over others from gaining admission based on their ability to pay.

Executive Vice President of the Student Assembly

Mayra Valadez (mv357)

Attach:2017MV357.jpg Δ

Hello Cornellians! My name is Mayra Valadez and I am running to be your Executive Vice President. It is a pleasure to currently serve as the first ever First-Generation Student Liaison-at-Large. This past year, I have helped my constituents organize the inaugural First-Gen Week and write a proposal for a First-Gen Resource Center. This upcoming year, I will advocate for current initiatives and implement new ones surrounding accessibility, engagement, and knowledge of resources. As your EVP, I will give you access to the SA. It is my goal to continue our restructuring process to have a new SA by the end of next Spring, to provide work-study eligible on-campus leaders with compensation, and to make meetings welcoming to the community. I will require representatives engage with their constituents on a much more personal level to more accurately meet their needs. I will make sure you know of SA funding resources and how to apply to them. I look forward to advocating for marginalized populations to increase equity and moving forward with current initiatives to provide housing for undocumented and international students over long breaks, targeting food insecurity, and advocating for a university-wide diversity requirement.

Varun Devatha (vad33)

Attach:2017VAD33.jpg Δ

Hello! My name is Varun Devatha and I am running for EVP! Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to serve as your VP of Outreach and Freshman Representative. During my time, I extended Dining Hours on North Campus to 9:00pm, worked to allow hotelies to concentrate across CCB, and assisted in the development of a better housing lottery. If elected EVP, there are 3 primary goals I will address: (1) Community Development - I will work tirelessly to ensure members of the community are able to fulfill their goals and dreams at Cornell. ex) Encouraging diversity training for byline-funded orgs / Ensuring proper implementation of the housing master plan / Working with Dining to create more affordable meal plans / Communicating options for students affected by addiction (2) Member Development - Members of the SA often do not understand their positions or the proper venues to effect change. ex) Mentorship programs / Creating tools similar to the referendum process (3) Transparency and Communication - Whether it is with the SA or the Administration, I will work to improve the general lack of communication with the student body. ex) Biweekly Fireside Chats / Video Series for organizations/services with poor outreach

International Students Liaison At-Large Student Assembly Representative

Christopher Schott (cas543)

Attach:2017CAS543.jpg Δ

International students deserve equal treatment, equal opportunity and acceptance by the Cornell community. To address these issues, my campaign platform focuses on three goals across two dimensions: Ensuring FAIRNESS, a FUTURE and FRIENDSHIP for international students, within the student community and at the administrative level. 1) International students ought to be treated fairly by the administration. They deserve need-blind financial aid, appropriate mental health resources and to feel just as confident as domestic students. I will advocate within the administration and leverage the support of the entire student community towards these objectives. 2) International students should receive appropriate guidance in their search for jobs and internships. I will work with the career resource center and the pre-professional community to ensure that international students receive better professional support for their future. 3) We should create more friendships between international and domestic students, as well as cohesion within the international community. By organizing more intercultural events, I will enable the Cornell community to engage with international students and different international communities to interact.

Minority Students Liaison At-Large Student Assembly Representative

Haris Hassan (hsh45)

Attach:2017HSH45.jpg Δ

As an international student of colour at Cornell, there have been several issues that I feel extremely passionately about and would love the opportunity to help and advocate on behalf of the students and communities that may think their voices aren’t being heard. There are certain pivotal initiatives I would like to target in my time: 1. Fighting for funding for minority organizations on campus. With the Byline funding year coming up, I want to continue to advocate for organizations, especially those for minority communities, resource centers etc. to continue to ensure these communities have adequate support during the year to continue their initiatives 2. Working to ensure that issues pertaining to the minority communities are being discussed on a faculty and administrative level 3. Pushing for greater support for mental health in the underrepresented communities on campus. Through not only having campus resources, but administrators and faculty as well be informed of the specific concerns the students in these communities face, to create a better student experience 4. Continuing to work with different minority and underrepresented groups on campus to ensure a more unified approach to tackling the issues facing the communities

Tristan Magloire (tam254)

Attach:2017TAM254.jpg Δ

Hi, I’m Tristan Magloire, and I’m running to be one your Minority Liason’s at-Large! Just to quickly introduce myself, I’m a current freshman representative on the SA majoring in Policy Analysis and Management. Aside from SA I love pretending I’m good at gymnastics and I’m a hardcore Ariana Grande stan! The Minority Liaison position encompasses so many students that embody so many cultures, races, SES’s, religions, and so forth, and as your rep. I will make it my priority to make sure that your voice is heard. During my time as liaison I generally plan to: (1) Host ‘Intro to SA’ type info sessions to orgs that represent diverse and underrepresented people and interests. I want to help reduce the number of barriers to entry that the SA has up and open the door to communities that have limited involvement with the SA (2) Work w/ Cornell admin. to make sure that minority communities on campus will be protected regardless of future economic/political/social decisions made by the government (3) Work w/ SA members to increase diversity and inclusion mindfulness and prevent the abuse of power Most importantly, I want to guarantee the safety and advancement of all of your beautiful minds! My contact is tam254! Let’s grab coffee!

President of the Student Assembly

Jung Won Kim (jwk235)

Attach:2017JWK235.jpg Δ

It is the SA President’s duty to fight for the best interests of every student. During my time in the SA, I worked to make syllabi public at pre-enroll, create an A&S Alumni Database, and support countless initiatives to increase student voices. However I believe we can do so much more. Together we can ensure the equal treatment of students, increased financial transparency, and the empowerment of students to pursue academic/extra-curricular goals freely. As an immigrant and minority myself, I know first-hand the struggles of disadvantaged students. As President, I will empower international students as well as those in minority, DACA, LGBTQ+, and First-Gen communities, and will bridge the divides between diverse communities with the perspective I bring. I will fight for the right to audit Cornell’s fund allocation to avoid ever-increasing tuition costs as well as ensure that byline funds are appropriately allocated to organizations that benefit the greatest amount of students. Finally, it is vital that student experience is of the best possible quality. Thus I will implement practical policies such as creating alumni databases across colleges and solving prelim conflicts. Let’s put students above politics. With Kim, YOU win!

Matthew Indimine (mi235)

Attach:2017MI235.jpg Δ

My name is Matt Indimine and I’m running to serve as your SA President! I currently serve as SA EVP, and have previously served as Health & Wellness Committee Chair, LGBTQ+ Liaison, VP Outreach. I plan to address: AFFORDABILITY: advocate for early financial aid disbursement for rent deposits; bridge the gap between financial aid’s budgeted “cost of attendance” and what it actually costs to attend Cornell INCLUSION/ACCESS: make shared governance more accessible to students from low SES backgrounds through stipends; remove barriers to entry for committee involvement; outreach via going TO different communities instead of waiting for them to come to SA; encourage student orgs to find accessible alternatives to current practices; improve diversity trainings & consider a diversity requirement EXPANDING RESOURCES: work with CUEMS to expand hands-only CPR trainings; provide a forum for students to voice concerns about campus resources; advocate for establishment of additional Resource Centers; as founder of Mental Health Awareness Week, which brought together 25+ student orgs, I will continue to reduce stigmas associated with seeking help. I hope you go ALL IN WITH INDIMINE as your SA President! Visit indimine.strikingly.com to learn more!

Lee Lipschutz (ll695)

Attach:2017LL695.jpg Δ

Hi All, my name is Lee Lipschutz and I am looking forward to serving again as your Hotel School Representative for next year. I believe experience on the Student Assembly is very important, and my past year on the Student Assembly has been very insightful. I have made it my goal to increase communication efforts between the Student Assembly and the Hotel School, and look forward to continuing this effort. I also look forward to continuing to make sure that the transition from The School of Hotel Administration to the Hotel School within the SC Johnson College of Business continues to maintain the unique identity of SHA. I look forward to again serving as a representative for you; any questions, please don’t be hesitate to reach out to me atLL695@cornell.edu.

School of Industrial & Labor Relations Student Assembly Representative

Samantha Romero Zavala (sr879)

Attach:2017SR879.jpg Δ

I am running for the position of ILR Representative because I believe that I can best represent ILR students in the making of legislation during Student Assembly meetings, as I am absolutely devoted to ILR. Currently, I’m involved in the ILR Student Government Association, ILR Ambassadors Program, and the ILR Peer Mentor Program. During my two years on the ILR-SGA I co-founded and served on the Diversity and Outreach Committee and currently chair the Public Relations Committee. In my time serving in these ILR organizations, I’ve fostered key relationships with administrators, faculty, and students, which has provided me with a more comprehensive perspective on how ILR interacts with the other colleges and administrators at Cornell. I would be honored to serve the ILR community as its representative in the SA, and I firmly believe that my knowledge of ILR students and organizations makes me the best candidate to represent and empower the ILR community in the Student Assembly.

Undergraduate Representative for the University Assembly

Joe Anderson (jsa94)

Attach:2017JSA94.jpg Δ

Hey Cornell! My name is Joseph Anderson and I am running to be your Representative to the University Assembly! I have 3 goals: 1. Increasing Transparency and Accessibility: I will establish town-halls for undergraduate students, where students can connect directly with their representative. In addition, I will look to find alternative ways to record and report what the University Assembly is doing, so that every student will have easy accessibility and knowledge on the initiatives the Assembly is undertaking. 2. Protecting Marginalized Students: As someone who’s experienced homophobia and acute hatred, I pledge to be a strong, vocal and unshakable ally and help break down barriers for others. Support is not enough: I hope to join coalitions with other student leaders on campus who are influencing our environment in a progressive and sustainable way. 3. Promoting Student Activism: Putting pressure on the Administration to recognize student activism and concerns will be a main priority. Creating safe spaces for students to speak out and speak up against forms of hatred and discrimination is necessary in this political climate. As a representative, I will remain grounded with the issues of undergraduates and work to find solutions

Neeraj ‘Naj’ Jaisinghani (nj263)

Attach:2017NJ263.jpg Δ

It’s Naj or Never! I’m Naj, I’m a sophomore in ILR, and I’m running to represent your voice on the University Assembly. I’m currently a representative on the SA. Through the UA, which focuses on university policy changes and is comprised of undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and staff, I will work towards tangible changes on a university wide level.

My platform: (1) TRANSPARENCY AND COMMUNICATION: Better understand the student experience by creating an open line of communication with different orgs and hold office hours for collaboration. (2) SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CAMPUS SAFETY: Mitigate risks of high-risk drinking through standardizing risk management for campus orgs, build and expand upon Big Red Shuttle, implement Cayuga’s Watchers bystander intervention trainings for byline-funded orgs, work with Tri-Council leaders, and improve Blue Light. (3) CAMPUS INCLUSIVITY: Ensure sanctuary campus and aid minority communities through improved resources and accessibility. (4) HOUSING AND FINANCIAL AID: Improve means to find housing, assure carbon neutrality by 2035, and urge administration to not lower financial aid standards to ensure equal opportunity. It’s Naj or Never and I would love your support!

Vincenzo Guido (vlg28)

Attach:2017SpringSA.Guido.jpg Δ

My name is Vincenzo Guido and I am running for Undergraduate Representative on the University Assembly. My campaign focuses on 6 key issues that I outline in my platform. My campaign aims to support measures to protect undocumented students, enforce the code of conduct at campus events, expand the number and scope of protester zones at major on-campus political events, maintain high evidentiary standards for JA issuances and Greek house suspensions, and ensure strict enforcement of anti-sexual assault measures geared toward preventing abuse and protecting victims of abuse. Each of these points I believe affect the Cornell community in a variety of ways that have noticeable impacts on the daily lives of our students. Likewise, I hope to maintain an open discourse with the entire student body regarding changes to the code of conduct when our community deems it necessary to reevaluate existing provisions. As an involved student in multiple political, religious, and social organizations, I am confident that I am equipped to best serve the interests of Cornell’s community with a sense of honesty and integrity. I look forward to working with the University Assembly to achieve my goals and the goals of all other elected representatives.

Yunyun Wang (yw458)

Attach:2017SpringSA.Wang.jpg Δ

I found a home here at Cornell. This is a school rich with resources and opportunities, and I want to take an active part in helping to improve the experience for every student here. I will dedicate myself to ensuring that student concerns regarding academic policy are brought to the attention of the university assembly as well as brainstorming new ideas to promote student health, wellness and safety by collaborating with various organizations on campus and within the Ithaca community to make Cornell a more positive learning environment for everyone. One initiative I plan to focus on if elected as undergraduate representative is to improve the transportation system here at Cornell, and help establish a direct access and commute to medical facilities both on and off campus for students seeking more serious medical care and treatment. An important step in ensuring that all student voice is heard is by maintaining clear channels of communications between the student body and administration, which is why I’m running for undergraduate representative to serve as the liaison between the student and university assembly, and be the people’s voice.

Undesignated At-Large Student Assembly Representative

Ashwin Viswanathan (av389)

Attach:2017AV389.jpg Δ

The Cornell undergraduate community is expansive, diverse, and inclusive. Everyone who comes to Cornell has a completely different and unique story, contributing to the community as a whole in every way that makes it special. Yet everyone, no matter their background, looks for ways to make Cornell a more welcoming and a more inclusive place for any and all. I’m running for a seat on the Student Assembly because I too want to make this campus the best it can possibly be. Having served as a Freshman Representative on the Student Assembly this past term, I know what it takes to be committed and diligent when it comes to enacting change. My main focus areas lie in infrastructural change and social and academic equality and opportunity. In terms of infrastructural change, I have and will continue to work towards campus improvement and overall campus safety, with ideas and plans ranging from upgrading campus facilities to environmentally friendly variants to increasing Blue Light presence on campus. In terms of social change, I hope to work with groups of all different backgrounds and identities to improve dialogue and facilitate discussions with groups across campus to allow for equal opportunity for success. Vote Ashwin for Action!

Gabe Kaufman (gdk36)

Attach:2017GDK36.jpg Δ

Hi Cornell! Go with Gabe! I’m Gabe Kaufman, a junior in ILR, minoring in Economics, Philosophy, and Law & Society. I’m running for re-election to the Student Assembly because I care about improving life for Cornell students. I have experience in shared governance, having served as the chair of the Academic Policy Committee, the chair of the Codes and Judicial Committee, and now as the chair of the University Assembly. Next year, my three goals include: 1. Helping Student Organizations. I think it should be easier for small organizations to receive funding from the SAFC and to schedule meeting spaces in Williard Straight Hall. 2. Improving the Campus Judicial System. I want to promote clarity in the Campus Code of Conduct and make sure that the standard of evidence required to give students a “JA” remains high. It should also be easier for students to protest. 3. Holding the Administration Accountable. The SA should make sure that Cornell stays on track to uphold its promise of carbon neutrality by 2035 and its commitment to a diverse student body and faculty. You can learn more about my candidacy and platform at gowithgabe.org. Thanks for your time!

TJ Ball (tb357)

Attach:2017TB357.jpg Δ

I’m running for SA because I, like many other people, am tired of seeing the Student Assembly pass initiatives on campus issues, only to have these initiatives pushed aside by the administration. If I were elected to the SA, I would not be complacent with an SA that is only there “for show.” Cornell could use some major changes in terms of improving waste management systems to make them more sustainable, ensuring that our campus makes people of all backgrounds feel safe and free to express themselves, and taking greater initiative to reduce the rate of sexual assault. I am not new to leadership at Cornell, currently serving as the Executive Secretary of the Cornell International Affairs Society and the CFO of the Cornell International Business Association. The SA is meant to improve the student experience for Cornellians now and for years to come, not to give students a position for their resume. By working with more student organizations to improve the efficiency of waste and energy systems, creating more gender neutral bathrooms, integrating resources from across colleges to maximize student opportunities, and holding the SA and the administration accountable for their actions, we can make Cornell a better place for everyone.

Women’s Liaison At-Large Student Assembly Representative

Sarah Park (sp776)

Attach:2017SP776.jpg Δ

Hi Cornell! I’m Sarah Park, I’m an ILR freshman, and I’d love nothing more than to make your voice heard on SA. I’ve been so lucky to represent students on both the Student and University Assemblies in the past year, serving on the Campus Welfare, Academic Policy, and Appropriations Committees. We’ve supported a carbon-neutral Cornell, endorsed the Ithaca Plan to help safety and rehabilitation in Ithaca and urged the administration to promote a sanctuary campus. We’ve made a lot of progress this year, so I’m running for Women’s Representative to ensure we continue improving Cornell. If elected, I hope to: Tackle Women’s Issues on Campus - carry out the free tampons initiative, get more blue lights on campus, improve Cornell Health accessibility to ensure our community is safe and inclusive for all Increase Democratization and Transparency of SA - bridge the gap between the student body and SA to make it possible for students to have a voice without a seat on the assembly Promote Active Communication and Unity - ensure that concerns from all constituencies are brought to the table to be discussed and support open programs and discussions I’d love nothing more than to continue ensuring all voices are heard. Thank you.
