Meeting Notes from June 2, 2008

Present: Linda Starr, Beth McKinney, Lauran Jacoby, Kris DeLuca Beach, Lynette Chappell-Williams, Michelle Artibee (guest), Rose Braman (scribe)

Announcements:

  • WDELQ is temporary relocated due to renovation of 160
  • Certificate Program offered in Work Life. Michelle plans to mirror an existing program from worklifebalance.com that offers various courses relating to work life efforts. We are currently looking for volunteers to take the classes and participate in the CIT presentation, which is part of the program.
  • EAP is moving to Community Corners
  • Lauren Jacoby — Skip level group will be presenting this Wednesday at HR leads meeting efforts made in work on flexibility and group analysis of retirees. This is from working with Barbara Butterfield. Group is looking at how to design jobs, tabulate flex in the workplace and the usage. WDELQ is currently working on measurements received from supervisors and how it relates to Best Practice.
  • Flex Think Tank — representative from DOL, Linda Roundtree, faculty members, transportation liaison. Group is looking at flex scheduled and how to modify it based on the your stage in life.
  • Update on the center:

375 Families applied, 400 + children 1st round of enrollment has been conducted Remaining families will be placed on a waiting list Interest forms received; 25% students, 25% faculty, 50% staff Supplemental CCG will be offered to offset up to 60% of child care expenses

  • There are now 7 lactations rooms on campus. Interim policy on “Time away from Work” is being implemented for nursing mothers.
  • Work Life Newsletter will come out twice a year as a supplement to the Cornell Chronicle.
  • Awards Working Mothers 2008, moved up to 2nd quintile.
  • Dave Thomas Adoption List 2008
  • Waiting to hear about AARP
  • Board of Trustees has approved to hold a “Bring a salad to work Day” on July 30th sponsored by Kraft.

Work life priorities are in line with strategic plan for funding purposes. FSC have come up with some awesome priorities. Need to look at components of the list of Priorities and Life Quality integration Strategic Plan that Lynette has been working on.

Rose will set up a separate meeting for the committee to look these two list over and determine what FSC should focus on.
