Resolution 5 Addition of Pay and Benefits Committee to Standing Committees of the GPSA Approved March 24, 2003 Whereas, the GPSA created the Pay and Benefits committee at its November 2002 meeting as an ad hoc committee; and Whereas, issues of pay and benefits affect all graduate and professional students and that these issues persist across time; and Whereas, these issues are of such importance that they merit a permanent standing committee; and Be it therefore resolved, that the GPSA establish the Pay and Benefits Committee as a standing committee of the GPSA; Be it further resolved that the following addition be made to Article 9 of the GPSA Charter: 9.7: The Pay and Benefits Committee and its Co-Chairs shall be approved by the GPSA. At least one of the Co-Chairs of the Pay and Benefits Committee shall be a member of the GPSA. The Pay and Benefits Committee will be charged with investigating the needs and desires of graduate and professional students regarding their pay and benefits, including but not limited to stipend levels, health insurance coverage and child care provision. The Pay and Benefits Committee will work in consultation with other relevant committees and interested parties. Be it further resolved that the following italicized language be added to Section 8.3 of the GPSA Charter: 8.3 The standing committees of the GPSA shall be the Executive Committee, the Internal Operations Committee, the Elections Committee, the Funding Policy Committee, the Communications Committee, the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly Finance Commission and the Pay and Benefits Committee.
