R.11 Resolution on Intercampus collaboration between Weill and Ithaca Campus

Whereas in the past few years, the faculty initiated collaborations between the New York City and Ithaca campuses of Cornell University have been fruitfulhowever the student initiated opportunities have been limited, due primarily to 1) research interests of a particular faculty mentor and 2) the physical distance between the NYC and Ithaca campuses; and

Whereas Weill students miss out on the rich culture and exposure to various fields of study offered by the Ithaca campus while Ithaca students lack the opportunity to participate in and investigate medically relevant endeavors within and outside their field of study; and

Whereas students currently have limited knowledge of or interaction with the students of their sister campus, social opportunities to connect students on the two campuses can act as a stimulus to foster a deeper sense of school identity, school pride, and collegiality amongst the students.

Be it therefore resolved that Weill and Ithaca students be exposed to more student-led collaborations amongst different student-run interest groups and clubs along with individualized academic collaborations,

Be it further resolved that the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly supports the ongoing efforts to promote the student initiated intercampus collaboration.

Respectfully submitted,
