May 5, 2009 Letter to President Skorton

Dear President Skorton:

On behalf of the 2008–2009 GPSA, I am pleased to share with you the following documents:

  • GPSA 2008–2009 Year-End Report,
  • R.9 Regarding Charter Revisions and Recommendations,
  • GPSA Charter,
  • GPSA Bylaws,
  • GPSA Byline Allocation Procedures, and
  • GPSA Eligibility Criteria and Obligations for Byline Funded Organizations.

As mentioned in our Mid-Year Report, the GPSA established an ad-hoc committee to review and revise the Charter. The committee worked tirelessly to develop the documents presented here, which will serve the GPSA for years to come. The Year-End Report summarizes the actions of the GPSA in the spring semester, but it also summarizes the changes made to the Charter and the development of the three supporting documents. I would suggest reading the Year-End Report first, which highlights the sections of the Charter requiring your approval.

We appreciate your attention to the needs of graduate and professional students, and we look forward to your response to these documents. It has been my pleasure to serve as GPSA President this year and to work with administrators, like yourself, who are dedicated to shared campus governance. Though I will step away from the GPSA next year, I hope to remain in contact while I finish my dissertation. Many thanks, and please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or comments.

Cordially,

Michelle Leinfelder
Out-going GPSA President
