November 13, 2012 Letter to President Re: R. 10
Dear President Skorton,
I am pleased to be able to transmit to you the GPSA Resolution 10 - A Resolution to Support Women’s Professional Development, passed on Monday, November 12th. Through this resolution, the GPSA recognizes the challenges that are uniquely faced by women in graduate and professional academia, the job market, and the professional world.
We ask the University to increase the amount of programming and the number of events pertaining to women’s specific job market needs. We also ask for a better coordination across fields between existing women’s groups and we suggest a website dedicated to graduate and professional students with resources from these various field groups. Lastly, we call for a stronger connection between the President’s Council on Cornell Women and the various graduate and professional student groups on campus.
GPSA also, through this resolution, commits to including women’s professional development in the Graduate Community Initiative through a variety of topic areas.
Please let me know if you have any questions for us. We also look forward to seeing you at our November 26th GPSA meeting.
Best,
Mitch
