Letter to President RE: Resolution 6

Dear President Skorton,

I would like to communicate with you GPSA Resolution 6 - A Resolution Regarding Support for Advanced Graduate Students. The purpose of this resolution is to acknowledge that Cornell has lowered tuition for students in their 6th and 7th years. However, the GPSA believes still believes this tuition is too high and wants to emphasize the plight of international students in particular when their funding runs out. It also asks that data on the number of students using late stage tuition be collected so that the cost of reduced tuition can be reconsidered. We have also included a number of recommendations about how to support advanced year graduate students and bring up the relevant example of Yale who has just implemented guaranteed 6th year funding for humanities and social sciences graduate students.

Best,

Richard Walroth
