Follow up response from the Office of the President

Dear Monet:

Thank you for your email of April 1 presenting GPSA Resolutions 10 and 11 and submitting GPSA Resolution 7 with the recommended corrections outlined in my March response.

I am pleased to accept Resolution 10: A Resolution to Amend the GPSA Charter and Bylaws to Change the Term of Finance Commission Chair. I agree that the change to the term will provide helpful overlap continuity in the important work of the Financial Commission Chair on behalf of the GPSA.

Regarding Resolution 11: A Resolution Updating the Byline Procedures, Eligibility Criteria and Obligations, I understand that you have consulted with Athletics on the increase in the number of hockey tickets from 200 to 250 and that they are in agreement with this change. I appreciate as well that you have worked with the Big Red Barn to suspend temporarily the requirement for hot food service during the structural stabilization project this summer. These are both good examples of constructive partnership with offices across campus and I am appreciative of the GPSA’s balanced approach in addressing these issues. As a minor detail, in the first line under the “Resolved”, (a) should read: “That the Criteria are amended” as the referenced sections appear in the Criteria, not the Procedures. With this small change, I am pleased to approve the resolution.

Lastly, I now approve GPSA’s Resolution 7: A Resolution to Amend the Bylaws Concerning GPSA External Committee Appointments. Thank you for making the proposed corrections. I do note that at line 27 the GPSA appears to be contemplating having a student representative on the Slope Day Steering Committee. In Resolution 11, however, you have deleted all reference from the Slope Day Programming Board from the Eligibility Criteria for Byline funding (A.01, g, 1). The GPSA may want to review these two documents to ensure a consistent position.

As we reach the end of the Spring 2014 semester, I want to express my thanks for your leadership of the GPSA this past year. I wish you all the best for the summer and in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

David
