Please read on for more information about what we do and what kind of volunteers we are looking for. You must include your resume in the application. Click here for a sample resume. Between twenty and thirty undergraduate students may serve on this committee. The committee is staffed by a special process explained in the SAFC bylaws.

About the Student Assembly Finance Commission

The Student Assembly Finance Commission (SAFC) is the funding arm of the Student Assembly (SA). The SAFC is responsible for funding over 350 registered undergraduate student organizations on the Cornell campus.

What does a Commissioner do?

A Commissioner on the SAFC is responsible for evaluating budget applications from student organizations, conducting budget hearings with student leaders, developing and implementing funding policy changes, promoting SAFC recruitment and outreach, and attending weekly meetings.

What is the Commission looking for in its candidates?

We are looking for the following qualities in our candidates:

• Diversity of background, interests, and campus involvement
• Personable and friendly
• Detail-oriented
• Team player
• Commitment
• Verbal and written communication skills

Who should apply to be on the SAFC?

Any undergraduate student! We are committed to representing the Cornell student body and the numerous organizations we fund. Freshmen and sophomores are particularly encouraged to apply.

What is the application like?

The application consists of submitting a r�sum� and answering the following questions:

• What is your expected year of graduation for your current course of study?
• What are your majors and/or fields of study?
• Please explain briefly why you are interested in serving on the commission.
• Pick three leadership qualities and explain briefly how you embody them.

Student Assembly Members

The Student Assembly appoints a liaison who serves as full voting member of the commission and its executive board.

Ex-Officio Members

The Student Assembly Vice President of Finance serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the commission and its executive board.
