From the Cornell Assemblies
As approved Wednesday, 2 May 2007.
Whereas under current legislation the University Hearing Board and University Review Board pool of 45 members consists of 15 students, 15 faculty members, and 15 non-faculty employees; and,
Whereas there is a need to increase the student component of the pool so as increase the likelihood of having a sufficient number of student members readily available for hearing and review boards;
Therefore be it resolved that the current legislation is revised to authorize an increase in the number of student members of the pool. The appropriate sections of the legislation will then read as follows, with the bold-face reflecting an increase of five student members:
The University Hearing Board and University Review Board is a pool of 50 members confirmed by the University Assembly: 20 students, 15 faculty members, and 15 non-faculty employees.
Faculty members are nominated by the dean of the university faculty. For other candidates, the Office of the Assemblies will solicit written applications and the Codes and Judicial Committee shall nominate candidates to the University Assembly for its confirmation no later than the last regular meeting of the outgoing University Assembly.
Respectfully Submitted,
Martin Hatch
Faculty Representative, University Assembly
