UA: Resolution 3 Resolution Approving Proposed Changes to Employee Retiree and Faculty/Staff Accessible Transportation and Commuter Policies

Whereas the University Assembly (the Assembly) “may examine matters which involve the interests or concern the welfare of a substantial segment of the campus community and may make recommendations or resolutions thereon to the President or to other appropriate officers or decision-making bodies of the University… [including] transportation and commuter policies”;

Whereas the Department of Transportation Services (Transportation Services) has prepared new policies regarding transportation and commuter policies for employee retirees and faculty/staff with disabilities in consultation with the Assembly’s Campus Infrastructure Committee (the Committee), the substance of which is as follows:

Fully retired employee:

Retired and returning to work employee:

Accessible parking program for disabled faculty, staff, and retirees:

Whereas Transportation Services has proposed this policy to supplant current practices, the substance of which are as follows:

Retiree employee with under 25 years of service No longer working at Cornell University (fully retired)

Returning to work at Cornell University

Employee retiree with 25 years of service or more No longer working at Cornell University (fully retired):

Returning to work at Cornell University and working less than 20 hours per week:

Returning to work at the University and working at least 20 hours per week:

Faculty, staff, and employee retirees who are disabled

Whereas the Committee endorsed the proposed policy in order to eliminate inconsistencies in current practices with respect to transportation parking accommodations for employee retirees and persons with disabilities; therefore be it:

Resolved the Assembly approves the substance of the proposed policy and its prompt implementation by Transportation Services.
