2007 Spring Resolution 4 Text
R. 4 Resolution Regarding Proposed Employee Assembly Budget for 2007–2008 Fiscal Year
Whereas, the Employee Assembly (the assembly) currently receives an annual operating budget of $9,400 in support of events, workshops, staff functions, and other efforts put forth each year; and,
Whereas, the EA has taken on a new and proactive role in conjunction with our new President, Dr. David J. Skorton, and as such, has undertaken several new and expanded activities with commensurate increases in financial burden to the assembly; and,
Whereas, the assembly has had to rely on irregular supplemental funding from the Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Assemblies to meet its financial obligations in light of increased financial burden; and,
Whereas, the assembly anticipates that opportunities for additional activities will continue to depend on having greater financial resources available;
Whereas, Article IV, Section 4.3 of the assembly Charter (the Charter) states “Vice Chair for Finance and Secretary shall assist with the annual fund request and budget preparation, creating budget reports as necessary for the Vice President University Relations”; and,
Whereas, the position Vice President for University Relations has been eliminated with the Vice President of University Communications now responsible for the assembly; and,
Whereas, the Vice Chair for Finance and Secretary of the assembly has developed and proposed the attached budget in the amount of $15,000 for the 2007–2008 academic year; and,
Be it resolved that the assembly approves the attached recommendation and requests that the Chair forward it to Thomas W. Bruce, Vice President University Communications, for review; and,
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution and budget also be distributed to Mary George Opperman, Vice-President for Human Resources.
Respectfully submitted,
Patricia Mahoney
Vice-Chair for Finance and Secretary
