January 17, 2011 Letter from President Re: R. 2
Dear Tanya,
I have reviewed your resolution recommending that the position of Employee Assembly Vice Chair be separated into the Executive Vice Chair of the Employee Assembly and Communications Committee Chair.
I can understand that the current list of duties for the Vice Chair is significant, particularly given increased workloads. Assigning the important work related to communications to someone else on the Employee Assembly, which will have more members given the expansion of the EA, will give another staff member a leadership opportunity while reducing the burden on the Vice Chair.
Therefore I support the proposal to separate the work currently in the vice chair’s role into the two roles as you propose. I make no comment on the proposed titles.
Thank you for all you continue to do to increase opportunities for staff to participate in the self governance process. I look forward to our continued work together.
Best regards,
David
