Employee Assembly Communications Committee

General Information

All through February and March of last year, the Employee Assembly sponsored six forums which were widely known as the “Chili Chats” and featured guest speaker, Mary George Opperman, Vice President of Human Resources. The main topic of discussion was employee motivation, sustainability of staff, and how staff use or don’t use their vacation leave.

This spring, the Employee Assembly will sponsor three forums specifically for supervisors and leaders of Cornell. This series entitled “Listening to Leaders” will provide a comprehensive overview of the feedback received from the employees that attended the Chili Chats. Two sessions will be held at 12 noon and will offer those attending a complimentary lunch, and in an attempt to reach those who work alternate shifts, one session will begin at 7 a.m. and will offer attendees a complimentary breakfast.

Each forum will begin with an overview of the findings of the Chili Chats sessions, then there will be a brief presentation and discussion with Mary Opperman centered around balancing work and leisure, and will conclude with small group discussions facilitated by members of the Employee Assembly.

All supervisors and those in leadership positions should plan to attend the forum that best accommodates their location and schedule.
