Elections: 2011 Spring Student Trustee Election

Elections are administered by the Office of the Assemblies on behalf of the Trustee Nominating Committee.

Election results

Alexander Bores was elected.

The results were determined by Instant Runoff Voting tabulation using OpenSTV software. The full tabulation results are available. Community members may also obtain ballot data suitable for tabulation in OpenSTV [1].

Two challenges were filed with the Trustee Nominating Committee regarding this election. Of the alleged violations of elections rules, the committee found support for the following:

The committee determined no violations substantiated by evidence submitted in challenges altered the the fairness of the election to the extent where it would be appropriate to disqualify a candidate.

How to become a candidate

Only Undergraduate students are eligible to be candidates for the 2011 Spring Student Trustee election. Graduate students will be eligible in next year’s election. Each person who wishes to be a candidate in these elections, must complete the following requirements before noon on Wednesday, 30 March 2011:

  1. Candidates must complete the following requirements online:
  2. Candidates must also print, complete, and return the following documents to 109 Day Hall:
    • Candidate Checklist and Information Form: Summarizes what you are required to submit and several statements you must affirm by signature.
    • Candidate Petition Form: Use this form to collect signatures in support of your candidacy. You must collect 200 valid signatures, although we recommend you collect at least 250. To collect more signatures, print multiple copies of this form. Any student who will be eligible to vote in the election may sign your petition (even if they would not be eligible to run).
    • Candidate Eligibility Form: This form states you are eligible and willing to serve in the position on the Trustee Board.

Candidates must complete the following requirements by 12 noon on Thursday, 21 April 2011:

  1. Candidate Expenditure Report Form: Complete and and bring to 109 Day Hall. This form must be submitted even if the candidate has no expenditures to report.
