III. Business of the Day

Introductions/News

S. McQuilkin welcomed all of the commissioners back from winter break, and introduced the new executive board.

S. Pepper said that the commissioners would be playing “two truths and a lie” to “break the ice”.

-All commissioners participate

J. Zielinski said that the binders and t-shirts for the new commissioners are present, and will be handed out during this meeting.

S. McQuilkin added that the t-shirts must be worn at all hearings and help sessions.

J. Zielinski passed out the policy and agenda sheets. He then announced that the help sessions will now be from January 31st to February 3rd, 4–5:30pm, as well as announcing the February 21st to 23rd office hours.

E. Fischer added that training for the new commissioners will take place Saturday January 28th, from 11am-2pm, in Willard Straight International Lounge. She asked that the new commissioners make faux-budgets to critique. Lastly she added that all of the commissioners need to take the President and Treasurer’s Test online.

J. Zielinski said that if any commissioner had questions, they should email Ms. Fischer.

E. Schulman briefly explained the liaison program to the new commissioners, and said that the list of liaisons will be sent out soon.

S. Pepper said that he will be trying to make SAFC more “fun”, and to do this he will “make a fun committee”, that will be devoted to the improvement of the SAFC.

J. Zielinski asked that all commissioners sign up for two help sessions, as he passed out the sign-up sheet.

S. McQuilkin started in on the news. She said that the President and Treasurer’s Test will remain the same as it has always been, but in the fall of 2006, people will be able to fail the test. Next, she said that there will be no new changes to the online budget applications. The SAFC will still implement the old system and she assured the commission that it would work. She also added that during the budget hearings the commissioners will have computers. Finally, she said that the SA overruled the SAFC and made the advisor on publications add their name to that publication.

K. Nadolny added that the motion was going to be repealed but the SA simply forgot about the matter.

S. McQuilkin asked that all commissioners study the President and Treasurer’s Handbook as the test is a little different that last year. Lastly, she said that if anyone had questions they should email herself or Mr. Zielinski.

IV. Meeting ended at 5:45 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
