III. Attendance Policy

K. Jenkins: Meetings are mandatory. You gain points for every meeting you miss. Points are calculated as follows:

  • Excused absence is 1 point.
  • Unexcused absence is 2 points.
  • Excused absence from budget meeting is 2 points.
  • Unexcused absence from budget meeting is 3 points.

Consequences:

  • 5 points is a warning.
  • 7 points is a hearing with the commission.
    • The commission votes on your status as a member.
  • 9 points is another hearing with the commission.
    • The commission votes on your status as a member.
  • 11 points is automatic dismissal from the commission.

If you are absent for an extended period of time with a legitimate excuse, you can talk to the leaders to make up points.

There will be no meeting on Labor Day.

IV. Trainings

K. Jenkins: This weekend (9/3–9/4), there will be mandatory electronics, systems, and guidelines trainings for all commissioners. Time and place TBD.

Quizzes will be offered Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If you do well, you can skip the guidelines portion of the trainings.

K. Song: The new system is similar to the old one, but there are some changes. There will be food.

a. Help Sessions

M. Gruber: You must go to 1 of 2 help sessions.
The sessions will be 4:30 — 5:30pm, Tuesday 9/4 or Wednesday 9/5.
There will be a googledoc sent out to sign up for times.

V. Changes

a. Budget Hearings

L. Kogos: Groups will apply and then the commission will meet and review the application like last year.

If everything is acceptable with the application, the group will be notified, receive full funds, and will not be required to attend a budget hearing.

If there is a problem with the application, the group will be informed of the problems before the budget hearing and allowed to bring new documentation to the hearing.

R. Desai: This means that the budget hearing is not an appeal.

b. Co-organized Events

K. Song: Groups that are co-organizing events must apply separately for funding i.e. they must apply for different parts of the event individually.

c. Budget Cap

K. Song: There will be an annual budget cap in addition to the usual semester budget. This will allow organizations to apply either semester by semester or once for the whole year.

VI. Social Event

K. Jenkins: There will be a fun, non-mandatory meeting this Friday 9/2. Time and place is TBD.

K. Jenkins will distribute necessary information from this meeting by email.

VII. Meeting was adjourned at 5:25pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Miriam Asher
