III. Miscellaneous

  • Remember to pick up SAFC polo shirts in 109 Day Hall.

IV. Inventory Report

  • L. Kogos: In the past, SAFC has required inventory reports, i.e. everything a club has gotten in the past using SAFC funding and how much it cost. This has been a problem because it has been hard for groups to get the information for the report. Do you have any suggestions on how we should address this problem?
  • M. Szczerbicki: It is important to keep track of what people already have.
  • C. Younger: I think we should take the initiative to look it up ourselves because it is hard for the clubs to know what is an SAFC funded durable good and what is not.
  • M. Hepfer: It is important to know at least the more recent inventories.
  • C. Blumenthal agrees with Hepfer.
  • D. Greener: The report does not seem necessary.
  • A. Verri: We should still fund them even if they do not have it.
  • Kogos: The general consensus seems to be that we will be lenient about inventory reports.

V. Budget Reviews — L. Kogos

  • We will split up, probably in pairs of twos. Old commissioners will be paired up with new ones.
  • If the budget has everything necessary, you will just approve them. If they are missing a document, you will mark the box to send them a notice to go to a budget hearing.
  • Every time you fill out a comment, write your name next to the box so we know who said it.
  • The system has been a problem with the sub-items and teams have not been able to apply properly. Therefore, you may have a situation where a group requests $0 when they obviously actually intended to request more. We can only change this problem manually, so make a note of it and we will change it. We will mention this in the help session.
  • Each semester admin cap is $200. Last semester we allowed $400 for the whole year (all of which groups could request at the beginning of the year). However, that means that this semester, they cannot get more if they got the full $400 last semester. We have to check from last semester how much they got and make sure that they do not exceed $400 total.
    • There is a similar situation with publications.
  • Last time we had a lot of half empty budgets. Please do not do that. Make sure every item is checked.
  • The reviews are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 4:30 to 9:30. Last semester, we got it done in 2 days, which is what we would like to do again this semester.
  • If you are going to be absent, email C. Blumenthal.

VI. Help Sessions

  • L. Kogos: Remember to sign up on the google docs and wear your red polos if you have one.
  • A. Bandali: I’ll have a powerpoint and then I’ll go through a mock budget. If you don’t know the answer to someone’s question, refer them to an old commissioner.
  • Kogos: We will not be meeting the Monday after the help session (Monday 2/6).

VII. The meeting was adjourned at 5:20pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Miriam Asher
