2. Housing Info. Sessions and Housing Lottery coming up

III. Gender Inclusive Housing

1. Goes into effect this upcoming housing lottery cycle

2. First round

  • i. Available for Co-ops, West Campus, Collegetown, Program Houses
  • ii. Requests/Forms will be done by hand

3. Too late to include on online housing lottery process

  • iii. Excludes transfer students for now

4. Spring transfers will be eligible for fall 2013 housing lottery

5. ResLife Responsibility: Educational Aspect

  • i. Informative video
  • ii. Mass email to students from on-campus housing office

7. Temporary? Permanent?

  • iv. Advertisement in the Cornell Daily Sun when housing lottery nears
  • v. Incorporate into housing info. sessions
  • vi. Emphasis how gender inclusive initiative applicable to suites and individual rooms

IV. Residential Hall Staff Training

1. Looked at RA training schedule, BEAR Program, RA Training Checklist, and optional reflections & gratitude booklet to be filled out by RA’s

  • i. BEAR Program — general philosophy for how RA’s should approach their responsibilities
  • ii. Schedule is an intense week of training and in-hall preparations

2. ResLife Responsibility: Room for Improvement?

  • i. Collaborate with HR/operations/training specialists in ILR or Hotel School
  • ii. Change RA contract so trainees are required to complete online training modules/workshops summer before official training (saves time)
  • iii. Find way to make online RA manual more user friendly

3. Things to check out

  • i. RA manual on blackboard
  • ii. RA evaluations
  • iii. Evaluations of RA training

V. Residential Student Congress — revisiting last year initiative

1. Main difference from ResLife: RSC serves as sole pocketbook for all residential hall programming

  • i. Merging both groups could really alter the dynamic of how each group operates

2. ResLife Responsibility: Things to Consider

  • i. What are the changes we want to see on campus?
  • ii. What are the abilities and responsibilities of each group?
  • iii. With these two groups and needed changes on campus, what steps can we take to move ahead?

VI. Diversity Affairs Coalition and SA Committee of Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives

1. Not an open committee and chaired by Ulysses 

2. Includes staff and students who discuss diversity plans within and across colleges

3. Replaced JAMIC (which was more on the advocacy side)
