Ross Gitlin Ross Gitlin ‘15 was elected by the Cornell student body to serve a two-year team as trustee beginning 1 July 2013.

Since freshmen year, I have had the privilege to serve on the Student Assembly in a range of roles.

2011–2012: Freshmen Rep. • Served on the Safety Task Force and Appropriations Committee

• Spearheaded in collaboration with administrators the creation of the gorge safety video

• Co-led the SA’s committee in support of the Tech Campus 2012–2013: VP of Outreach and ILR Rep.

• Oversaw all SA student engagement, while planning events, including - Know the Power of Your Words and Illuminate the Night

• Co-authored the late night safety survey

• Served on SACIDI; the CURW Multifaith Advisory Council; SA Communications Committee; and UA Infrastructure Committee

As VP of Outreach, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a conduit for the Cornell Community through presenting student concerns and interests to the administration. I have participated and collaborated with students in: • Illuminate the Night • Know the Power of Your Words Campaign • Leadership Roundtable • Multicultural Passover Seder • Coming Out Day Celebration • Rock the Vote Rally • Asia Night

This list only reflects a portion of the activities that I have been involved in, yet it is illustrative as to how I have built strong relationships and engaged with many diverse communities that together compose the greater Cornell Community.

I will use my position to ensure the interests of all students are advanced, while acting as a liaison to the Board in expressing student concerns.

3 Priorities: (1) Increasing and improving COMMUNICATION among students, the Board and the administration, while EMPOWERING all students to participate in the decision-making process.

(2) Addressing the issue of rising tuition, while enhancing FINANCIAL AID policies for all students.

(3) Promoting an INCLUSIVE campus environment through encouraging collaboration among diverse student groups, while increasing support for valuable resource centers.
