Resolution 5. Resolution Regarding Amendment to the University Assembly Charter

Whereas Article 11 of the University Assembly (the Assembly) Charter (the Charter) specifies the process by which the Assembly may amend its Charter;

Whereas Article 11 states “an affirmative vote of two-thirds of the seated [Assembly] membership shall be required to amend the Charter”;

Whereas the Assembly has sought community input and consulted with effected administrative units towards development of these Charter changes;

Whereas the Assembly aims to structure itself to better address the current campus community and anticipate future community needs;

Be it therefore resolved that the Assembly Charter be amended to reflect in full the text of the October 27th, 2010 Charter Draft amendments which have been fully accessible through the University Assemblies website (http://assembly.cornell.edu/UA/Documents);

Be it therefore resolved that the Charter amendments be set effective June 1, 2011;

Be it finally resolved that the October 27th, 2010 draft amendments be presented to the President of the University for approval as required by the present text of Article 11.

Respectfully Submitted,

The executive Committee of the Assembly;
Charles Walcott, Chair
Edward Strong
Jared Feldman
