May 11, 2012 Letter to President Skorton regarding R 9, R 10 and R 11

Dear President Skorton,

I am pleased to inform you that the University Assembly passed 3 resolutions at it’s meeting on April 24th.

Resolution 9, Division of HR Workforce Diversity and Inclusion, supports the department’s work fostering and promoting equal opportunity. affirmative action, diversity, and work-life balance. Furthermore, the resolution calls on the department to expand on its initiatives and your office provides the resources needed in order to do so.

Resolution 10, Amend Campus Code of Conduct to Prohibit Swimming in the Gorges, would allow Cornell police to enforce prohibition of swimming in the gorges.

Resolution 11, Proposing Changes Recommended by the Office of the Judicial Administrator to the Campus Code of Conduct, has four different components. The resolution would allow an accused person to be accompanied by a personal adviser as the complainant is currently allowed. It would prohibit a person from kidnapping or imprisoning another person, prohibit a person from trespassing on non-university property, and it would prohibit a person for having another person’s identification for the purpose of circumventing state minimum drinking laws.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and of course let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Melissa
