Letter from President Skorton Re: R. 3 Bylaw Change Reflecting Disassociation of Public Safety Advisory Committee from the University Assembly

Dear Jim,

Thank you for forwarding UA Resolution 3 for my approval. Due to a review that has taken place since I approved UA Resolution 13, there are now portions of Resolution 3 which must be amended, therefore, I am returning this to you for modification.

Please note, since the passage of UA Resolution 13 in the spring, a review of NYS Education Law Article 129-A indicated that the law required the University to change its approach, and the PCCSGSV was renamed the Council on Sexual Violence Prevention (CSVP). The Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) remains a separate committee, whose membership also serves on the CSVP as de facto members. Under this new arrangement, it is the PSAC, not the CSVP (formerly PCCSGSV), which has been confirmed as meeting institutional compliance under NYS Education Law Article 129-A, Section 6431.

I look forward to reviewing the revised resolution.

Regards,

David
