J. Blair asked for a clarification.

Hi Jane.

RE: Pres Skorton’s acceptance of UA R9 REVISED below.

Part of the President’s response is unclear to us. We are fully prepared to accept the date correction; however, the second paragraph has created some uncertainty. Specifically, what it meant by, “By extension, I will approve the incorporation of the resolutions in the Campus Code.” That sentence, especially with the plural use of the word ‘resolutions’ implies that R9 should not be implemented in the campus code of conduct until a suitable companion resolution is received. However, if R9 is approved per his first sentence, then there is no mechanism to “hold” the R9 specific code change while the UA works on the companion resolution [see attached Resolution 9 REVSED lines 34–48].

Are you able to clarify the intent of this section, or could you put me in touch with the drafter of the response below and I’ll inquire directly to them?

Bottom-line: the clarification of intent will determine how I need to response back to Pres Skorton.

Sincerely,
-Jim
