ABSTRACT:

R. 1

A Resolution to Welcome Jeffery S. Lehman as Cornell’s 11th President

Whereas, on December 14, 2002 Cornell University named Jeffery S. Lehman as its 11th president, and

Whereas, President Lehman is the first Cornell alumnus to serve as University President, graduating with a degree Mathematics in 1977, and

Whereas, President Lehman holds exceptional credentials in higher education hailing from University of Michigan Law School as its Dean, and

Whereas, the Cornell student body hopes to foster a strong, working relationship with the new president based on candor, honesty, and mutual respect, and

Whereas, President Lehman has expressed his willingness to engage the student voice and his commitment to open dialogue with the student body,

Be It Therefore Resolved, that the Cornell student body warmly welcomes President Jeffery S. Lehman as Cornell’s 11th President, and

Be It Further Resolved, that the Cornell student body ardently commits itself to working with the new University President with the utmost sincerity and diligence, and

Be It Finally Resolved, that the Cornell student body and President Lehman shall strive to cooperatively build a Cornell that our founders would be proud of.
