R. 3: Resolution Requiring All Student Assembly Members to Consult With Their Elected Constituencies to Investigate Additional Funding Sources for the Students Helping Students (SHS) Program

Re-introduced Thursday, 14 September 2006, unchanged from Thursday, 31 August 2006.

Introduced Thursday, 31 August 2006.

Whereas, the SHS Program through the Office of Financial Aid provides a valuable emergency service to undergraduates;

Whereas, the Student Assembly remains an active funding source for the SHS Program through the Student Activity Fee;

Be it therefore resolved that Student Assembly representatives must consult with their elected constituencies to investigate additional funding sources for the SHS Program. Such funding may include, but is not limited to: individual, club, Greek, or departmental contributions;

Be it further resolved that the Joint Assemblies Financial Aid Review Committee (JAFARC) will hold Student Assembly representatives accountable for pursuing additional sources of funding and will maintain oversight of the SHS Program;

Be it further resolved that the Joint Assemblies Financial Aid Review Committee (JAFARC), after further investigation of the SHS financial status, will submit expansion goals to the Student Assembly for approval, no later than 60 days from the passage of this resolution;

Be it finally resolved that the Student Assembly seeks active community input for new ways of expanding the SHS Program to reach and assist greater numbers of undergraduates.

Respectfully submitted,

Elan Greenberg 08 Vice President for Internal Operations Representative, College of Human Ecology
