R. 4 Resolution Regarding the Transfer of Student Assembly’s Bus Service to Class Councils

Subject of Resolution:Resolution Regarding the Transfer of Student Assembly’s Bus Service to Class Councils

Requires a Simple Majority for Approval

Whereas, the Student Assembly coordinated a successful transportation service during Spring Break of 2007 for undergraduate students, which saved thousands of dollars for Cornellians;

Whereas, it would only be prudent that the Student Assembly ensured the continuation of this program;

Whereas, for this upcoming Fall and Thanksgiving Break, I was hoping to expand the Bus Program to twice its previous size. Yet the process of by-line funding is going to take the preoccupation of most members of the SA;

Whereas, a service such as the transportation program would be better managed through a more fluent organizations that the SA by-line funds than the SA itself, since the membership of the SA can completely change every year;

Whereas, Class Councils already has a relationship with many bus companies in the New York State Area from the events that involve trips during Senior Weeks;

Whereas, Class Councils has agreed to continue the Bus Program and is willing to begin planning immediately in order to offer a service for Fall and Thanksgiving Break;

Be it therefore resolved that the Student Assembly shall transfer to Class Councils the responsibility of continuing a transportation service for undergraduate Cornellians to help reduce the cost of travel.
