Whereas, the Student Assembly passed the Green Energy Fee Resolution to promote sustainability on campus last year, which was supported by 78% of undergraduates,

Whereas, the Student Assembly also passed a resolution endorsing the President’s Climate Commitment agreement,

Whereas, fuel prices have drastically increased in recent years and automobile-dependency leads to urban sprawl that is not conducive to a sustainable community,

Whereas, implementation of a more sustainable form of transportation is vital to the continuance of progress made thus far by the Cornell community,

Whereas, Connect Ithaca is committed to creating an innovative, Personal Rapid Transit System in the Ithaca community,

Whereas, Connect Ithaca made an open presentation to the Cornell community on Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 on their plans to implement a Personal Rapid Transit System,

Whereas, one of the goals of a Personal Rapid Transit System is to promote economic growth within the cities and provide a more accessible form of transportation for everyone,

Whereas, this Personal Rapid Transit System would be accessible to everyone in both the Ithaca community and the Cornell community,

Be it therefore resolved, the Student Assembly supports the efforts of Connect Ithaca to implement a Personal Rapid Transit System in the Ithaca community.
