R.15 Resolution Regarding the Clarification of Designated At-Large Liaison Seats

Whereas, the Student Assembly has designated four At-Large seats as liaisons for minority, LGBTQ, and international students without its formal acknowledgment in the SA bylaws.

Whereas, according the article 3.1 of the Student Assembly Charter: “Should the Assembly determine to allocate a seat or seats to specified groups of students, such allocation shall be in accordance with procedures promulgated by the SA and contained in its procedures and/or bylaws.”

Be it therefore resolved, that the Student Assembly Carter shall be amended to include the following: Bylaw 3.1.d: Two At-Large seats shall be allocated for Minority liaisons, one At-large seat shall be allocated for a LGBTQ liaison, and one At-Large seat shall be allocated for an International liaison. These four liaisons shall be designated as such in the general election of the Student Assembly, and shall be elected at-large by the student body.

Be it finally resolved, the failure of this resolution represents the Student Assembly’s testimony to not include these specified groups in the SA bylaws, and the LGBTQ, Minority, and International seats will no longer be recognized as liaisons of the Student Assembly with this resolutions failure pursuant of the SA charter.
