R.3 Resolution Regarding 2008 Fall Undergraduate Election Rules]]

Originally Presented On:Thursday, September 4, 2008
Sponsors:Michael McDermott, Greg Mezey, Michael Heinz
Subject of Resolution:2008 Fall Undergraduate Election Rules
Status/Result:-

Whereas, Article I, Section A.1.b. of the 2008 Fall Undergraduate Election Rules requires that candidates collect signatures from the “proper constituency”; and,

Whereas, the “proper constituency” is not defined for freshman student seats or for transfer student seats; and,

Whereas, the elimination of the transfer center has made it difficult for new transfer student candidates to locate a sufficient number of transfer students to sign their petitions;

Be it therefore resolved that, for the purposes of Article I, Section A.1.b of 2008 Fall Undergraduate Elections Rules, the “proper constituency” to sign petitions of new freshman and transfer student candidates shall be any new undergraduate student; and,

Be it further resolved, that the Elections Committee shall review the election rules and recommend a long-term remedy to the assembly by the end of the semester.

Respectfully submitted,
