August 25, 2009 Letter from Nikhil Kumar, Vice President Internal Operations
Thanks for your interest in joining a Student Assembly committee! Over the past few years, SA committees have tackled a number of issues of great concern to the entire Cornell community and have often been the catalyst for change on campus. I am especially excited about this year, when we will have a great group of committee chairpersons ready to work hard to make sure that the concerns of Cornell students are heard and that the solutions we support are implemented.
Linked to this website, you will find application forms for the different committees. You can also find committee descriptions, past meeting agendas and minutes, and current committee members on this website. Before submitting an application, please be aware that each committee meets at least bi-weekly.
All committees will begin meeting by September 7th, 2009 so it is imperative to submit your application by August 31, 2009. Even if you are not appointed to the committee of your choice, you are still welcome to attend committee meetings to voice issues of concern and we will keep your application on file so that we can notify you if vacancies occur on committees of interest.
To students interested in the Committee on Transfer Affairs. Because this is a new committee, the application procedure is slightly different. To apply for this committee, please email Nikhil Kumar, VP of Internal Operations (njk38@cornell.edu) by September 14, 2009 with your name, email address, class year, school/major, and a brief statement regarding your interest in the committee (500 words or less).
Thanks again for your interest in applying for an SA committee and please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime at the email address below with any specific questions or concerns that you might have.
