Resolution 39 Joint GPSA/SA Resolution in Acknowledgment and Celebration of President Skorton's Birthday

Whereas, in September 2006, Dr. David J. Skorton became the 12th President of the august institution that is Cornell University;

Whereas, since his inauguration, President Skorton has been a friend and ally to the Graduate & Professional Student Assembly (GPSA) and Student Assembly (SA), advancing graduate & professional and undergraduate students’ issues as a priority within Cornell’s senior administration;

Whereas, President Skorton’s road from Milwaukee, in 1949, to Ithaca, in 2009, has benefited the hearts and minds of many;

Whereas, birthdays are a time for family, friends, and colleagues to celebrate a person’s past, present and most importantly, his future;

Whereas, 22 November is the birthday of many famous individuals, including President Charles de Gaulle, Billie Jean King, Scarlett Johansson, and most importantly, our President Skorton.

Be it therefore resolved that on behalf of the entire GPSA and SA, the executive officers wish President Skorton a very “Happy Birthday!”

Be it further resolved that the GPSA and SA strongly requests and recommends that President Skorton take a full day away from his extremely important and productive work to spend time with his family and reflect on the wonderful influence he has had on society as a physician, professor, and administrator;

Be it finally resolved that the GPSA and SA will present a copy of this resolution to David Skorton, President of Cornell University.

Respectfully submitted,
D. T. Nighthawk Evensen
