January 14, 2010 Letter to President Skorton
Dear President Skorton,
Attached are the resolutions for your attention including three (R. 13, R. 15, and R. 31) that have been reworded per your request. I have also included the Ujamaa RHD resolution (R. 24) again for your convenience. The housing resolutions will be sent to you tomorrow with an accompanying explanatory letter. I sent the rest of the resolutions for the semester to your director of operations, Laurie Summers.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
R. 13 (formerly R. 11) - Voting Rights for Members of the Undergraduate Community “The Community Clause 2.0” — Changed to include reference to sense-of-the-body resolution R. 24 (formerly R. 22) - Reinstatement of Mr. Kenneth Glover as the Residential Housing Director of Ujamaa Residential College — Requests the Ujamaa Program House RHD Selection Committee to conduct a thorough review with student input of the transfer of Ken Glover from Ujamaa.
R. 25 (letter attached) — Lights Off, Cornell — Requests University investigation in reducing campus light usage and creates a joint SA-GPSA task force to assist in determining more efficient light usage.
R. 27 — Supporting the Dutch and Swedish Language Programs — Expresses SA disapproval towards elimination of Dutch and Swedish Language Programs (No approval necessary)
R. 31 (formerly R. 44 from Spring 2009) — SA Organizational Review Committee & RSO Taskforce Recommendations — Changed to specify its application solely to undergraduate student groups
R. 34 — Clarification of at-Large Seats — Clarifies the constituencies of SA at-Large seats in the Charter
R. 35 — Marcellus Shale Drilling — Requests the formation of a committee to investigate the potential risks and benefits associated with the leasing of Cornell owned land to hydraulic fracturing
