Resolution 68

Whereas, innovative Cornell students have began to decorate the recently constructed chain-link fences with plastic flowers and other ornamentation in an effort to make the aforementioned fences more aesthetically pleasing.

Whereas, Cornell Police and other campus security personnel have been removing decorations on bridges

Whereas, a Harvard research study demonstrated that flowers can provide a boost of energy, happiness and enthusiasm 1

Be it therefore resolved, that the Student Assembly encourages the University to allow ribbons, plastic flowers, stuffed animals, and any other decorative incarnation to be placed on chain-link fences on campus bridges provided that they do not make mention of specific individuals by name or image and do not restrict the pedestrian flow of traffic on the bridges.

Be it finally resolved, that no posters of any kind shall be permitted to be displayed on the chain-link fences.

Respectfully submitted,

Rammy Salem ‘10 At-Large Representative Student Assembly President

Roneal Desai ‘13 Freshman Representative
