Resolution 85
Whereas, the Student Assembly seeks to be more transparent to the student body,
Whereas, over one in ten (11%) online adults in the US say they have used Twitter � or a similar service — to share updates about themselves or view updates about others. 1
Whereas, more than a quarter of Americans read news on mobile devices; 2
Whereas, More than two-thirds (67%) of online Americans now report that they have streamed or downloaded digital video content from the internet; 3
Whereas, 82% of Americans aged 18–24 reported using the Internet in 2006; 4
Whereas, an interactive central online hub is needed by the SA to keep the student body informed and updated on SA events, services, and initiatives;
Be it therefore resolved, that an addition to the eighth responsibility of President under Article VI Section I shall be: Appoint Assembly Parliamentarian, Executive Archivist, and Webmaster.
Be it further resolved, that the composition of the Executive Board under Article VIII Section 1 be changed to read:
The Executive Board shall be composed of the officers of the SA. The Executive Archivist, the Director of Elections, the Parliamentarian, and the Webmaster serve as non voting members of the Executive Board.
Be it finally resolved, that Article VI Section 9 shall be added to read:
A Webmaster, who shall be nominated every year by the President and affirmed by a majority of the SA voting members, shall be responsible for:
- 1. Updating the Student Assembly web site at least weekly to reflect the current and upcoming activities of the SA. These updates shall include, but are not limited to meeting times and minutes, member voting records, service events, and legislation.
- 2. Maintaining the most up-to-date links to relevant campus services.
- 3. Checking media outlets for pertinent information to include in the website.
- 4. Working with the VP of Public Relations to integrate and update the all SA online communication as necessary.
- 5. Responding to any request made by an SA representative to update the information listed on the SA website within one week provided this information is relevant and accurate.
