Resolution 32
Whereas, the Cornell University Emergency Medical Services (CU EMS) is a byline-funded organization that must operate pursuant to the Appendix B guidelines which dictate appropriate spending of the SAF;
Whereas, CU EMS needs to replace one of their trucks every 4–5 years due to obsolescence and increasing repair costs of the older truck;
Whereas, Appendix B currently stipulates “CU EMS may save no more than $5,000 per fiscal year toward the purchase of a new vehicle,” but CU EMS is unable to save properly for a new vehicle without saving $25,000 over two years;
Whereas, there was an error in copying the 2008–2010 Appendix B guidelines over to the 2010–2012 guidelines and thus incorrect information was included in the current guidelines;
Whereas, the Student Assembly has a duty to promote the general welfare of the undergraduate student body as well as ensure the smooth operation of the organizations it funds;
Be it therefore resolved, that the Appendix B guidelines at Section IV, Part J are amended to in the following manner:
“K. Cornell University Emergency Medical Services
- 1. EMS may save no more than $5,000 per fiscal year toward the purchase of a new vehicle. EMS may save no more than $25,000 per each two year funding cycle toward the purchase of a new vehicle.”
Be it finally resolved, that these Appendix B guideline changes take effect immediately upon passage of this resolution.
