Resolution 69
Whereas, Cornell has existed as an institution for 146 years;
Whereas, there have been significant social changes that have granted accessibility rights to individuals with disabilities;
Whereas, many buildings on campus are not up to date with these accessibility requirements;
Whereas, at any given time there are 850 Cornell students on campus registered as having physical or mental disabilities;
Whereas, a number of construction projects are underway and/or planned;
Be it therefore resolved, that the Student Assembly advocates on behalf of the student body that the University prioritize making all buildings on campus accessible to students with disabilities;
Be it further resolved, this is done in accordance with the American Disabilities Association Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities or comparable standards.
