Appropriations Committee Report- CAPSU Eligibility Hearing

The Appropriations Committee recommends that the SA approve eligibility for CAPSU by a vote of 12–0−0.

Committee members were impressed by the quality of CAPSU’s eligibility presentation. Overall, the Committee felt that CAPSU was eligible to receive byline funding due to the large number of student organizations it brings together. In addition, most believed that CAPSU offered a unique opportunity to facilitate dialogue at Cornell. However, some felt that CAPSU was requesting byline funding more for funding convenience rather than a problem of underfunded programming. In addition, some committee members felt that the organization could do more to reach out to the larger community on campus. Regardless, the Committee believed that CAPSU serves the entire undergraduate student body due to its mission to bridge the cap between Asian organizations in the community.

Please note that this does not indicate a guarantee of byline funding. If the SA approves eligibility, CAPSU will present their funding request to the Appropriations Committee later in the semester.

Respectfully submitted,

Adam Nicoletti ‘12 Vice President for Finance, Student Assembly
