S.A. Resolution #25: Improvement of Fire Safety Awareness

Sponsored by: Ulysses Smith ‘13

Whereas, The Student Assembly has made student health and safety a priority for this academic year by creating two task forces dedicated to these issues;

Whereas, the staff of Environmental Health & Safety are seeking to increase fire safety and awareness both in residence halls and off campus;

Whereas, in spring 2011, a house fire caused the death of one student in Collegetown;

Be it therefore resolved, that Campus Life replace all damaged fire safety posters, pamphlets, stickers, and other informational materials within all dormitories and public spaces in residence halls;

Be it further resolved, that the attached posters provided by Environmental Health & Safety be placed in all kitchens and restrooms respectively;

Be it further resolved, that at the beginning of each semester, Resident Advisors and/or residential staff distribute materials highlighting all health and safety resources available to students;

Be it finally resolved, that Campus Life personnel survey the condition of fire safety posters, pamphlets, stickers, and other informational materials within residence halls twice a year and replace any damaged materials.

Respectfully Submitted,

Ulysses Smith ‘13
Vice President of Outreach, Student Assembly
