Cornell Cinema Request for Ticket Price Increase

Request for Ticket Price Increase
Cornell Cinema
Effective, FY12–13

Cornell Cinema seeks the permission of the SA to raise the undergraduate ticket price by $1, from $4.50 to $5.50, at the beginning of FY12–13. The graduate student ticket price will concurrently be raised by $1,from $4 to $5. The two-tiered pricing structure reflects the difference in the activity fee allocation received from undergraduates versus graduate students: $10/undergraduate and $11.05/graduate student.

During the Fall 2011 Byline Funding process, both the SA and the GPSA encouraged Cornell Cinema to raise additional income by raising the ticket price, so we are now seeking official approval from the SA to do so.

Cornell Cinema will continue to offer a discount pass for students, the “Six Pass” (good for six admissions to regularly priced shows; valid for one year), which we plan tooffer for $25 (an increase of just $4 from the current price of $21), so that students who wish to attend more frequently can continue to do so for just $4.17 per film.

Even at $5.50 per ticket, undergraduate students will be paying significantly less than current prices at the local Regal Cinema: $9 for Sunday - Thursday admission and $10.50 for Fridays & Saturdays. Cornell Cinema will also offer a $5 matinee price (compared to $8 at Regal Cinema).
