Resolution 5: Amending the 2012-2013 Standing Rules

Sponsored by: Ross Gitlin ‘15

Whereas, the Vice President of Outreach is charged with the responsibility of coordinating constituency representatives’ outreach efforts

Whereas, SA members are required to reach out to the general Cornell community and to their individual constituencies and must be held accountable to a certain standard

Be it therefore resolved, that the SA amend Section 1, Rule 9 of the 2012–2013 standing rules and may it read: “SA members must attend a minimum of 8 outreach events per semester. Failing to attend 2 outreach events per month of each semester will result in 1 absence each semester a member falls short.”

Be it further resolved, that the SA add following Section III, Rule 4 of the 2012–2013 standing rules and may it read: “ elected representatives from all the individual schools and colleges, the minority representatives at-large, the LGBTQ liaison at-large, and the women’s issues liaison at-large, host at least one outreach activity with individuals from their respective constituencies. Following their event, they will need to report all outcomes to the SA at the next regularly-scheduled meeting.”

Respectfully Submitted,

Ross Gitlin ‘15
