Resolution 16: Fall 2012 SAFC Appeals

Sponsored By: Roneal Desai ‘13

Whereas, the Student Assembly is charged with handling appeals of the Student Assembly Finance Commission (SAFC) under Section 6 of the SAFC Funding Guidelines;

Cornell Go Club

Whereas, the Appropriations Committee issued the following report:

The Appropriations Committee voted that the SAFC did err in denying funding to Cornell Go Club for their durable good by a vote of 8–2−2. Therefore, Cornell Go Club should be funded by the SAFC for an additional $30.13. The committee felt that because longer lasting batteries that would be more likely to be considered “durable” were available but were more expensive per life span and also that since the purchase of the batteries is “necessary to the organization’s purpose”, the group’s request falls in line with the intent of durable good funding and thus should be granted.

Be it therefore resolved, that the Student Assembly adopt the following ruling in regards to the appeal of the Go Club to their SAFC allocation in the Fall of 2012:

The SAFC did err in denying funding to the Go Club for the batteries they requested under the durable good category, and the Go Club should be funded by the SAFC for an additional $30.13.
