December 13, 2012 Letter To President Re: R. 30

Dear President Skorton,

I would like to formally communicate Student Assembly Resolution 30, “Approving the Student Assembly Finance Commission’s Executive Board Members and Commissioners,” sponsored by S.A. Vice President of Finance Roneal Desai and Minority At-Large Representative and Liaisons to the SAFC Cameron Pritchett. The resolution, which was passed last Thursday, confirms and congratulates the incoming Student Assembly Finance Commission’s (SAFC) leadership and new members. The SAFC is responsible for funding over 350 registered undergraduate student organizations on campus and is an integral part of student life at Cornell.

Student Assembly members congratulated SAFC co-chair Matty Gruber ‘13 on his leadership this past year and incoming co-chair Aly Bandali ‘14. S.A. members also congratulated incoming SAFC Vice President of External Operations Blaise Koncsol ‘14, VP of Internal Operations MArissa Gulang ‘15, and VP of Public Relations Logan Harper ‘14.

The S.A. also welcomed and congratulated the SAFC’s new commissioners, including Abigail Warren ‘15, Adam Wang ‘15, Alec Kane ‘15, Jancey Taveras ‘14, Julia Kogos ‘16, Kaitlin Weiner ‘15, Kendrick Coq ‘16, Oliver Marvin ‘14, Ryan Nowicki ‘15, Sagar Galani ‘14, Spencer Nord ‘16, and Stephanie Ou ‘16.

S.A. members also wanted to congratulate and thank SAFC members for their dedication and progress over the past year. Over the last year and especially this Fall semester, the Commission has made significant improvements to their internal structures which has created a more efficient system of allocating funds, created a more student-friendly application system and improved its outreach and recruitment process. All of the changes have received excellent feedback from many student leaders who have said that they can better access funding and in turn improve the quality of student programming and student life on campus.

Finally, the S.A. wanted to commend Terry Ector, Coordinator and Accounts Representative in the Office of the Dean of Students, who works closely with the SAFC and SAFC-funded organizations and has been especially helpful as the changes were taking place.

I have attached Resolution 30 for reference. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Adam
