Whereas, Resolution 33 re-affiliated the Ivy Council with the Student Assembly

Whereas, the amended bylaws do not specifically delineate leadership among the delegation of the Cornell chapter

Whereas, the Cornell chapter of the Ivy Council ought to be led by a popularly elected representative from the student body

Whereas, there exists no formal system of accountability or publicity to the student body for current delegation

Whereas, the Cornell chapter of the Ivy Council will ultimately function as a Student Assembly Committee in its recruitment; presentation to the Student Assembly general body and executive board; and function in serving the student body

Be it therefore resolved, that the Ivy Council be established and all staffing infrastructure therein

Be it further resolved, that Article VII, Section II of the Student Assembly by-laws changed to state the following:

The Ivy Council is comprised of representatives from all eight Ivy League school’s undergraduate student governments whose delegates meet annually to discuss matters of importance to the member schools, to facilitate effective communication between the student governments of the member institutions, to provide a unified voice for the Ivy League student governments, and to further students’ initiative in making a positive impact on the global community.

The membership of the Cornell Chapter of the Ivy Council shall include at least 5 delegates. At least one of these delegates The chair (i.e. head delegate) will be a serving member of the Student Assembly. The Student Assembly delegate shall be elected internally. Furthermore, any Cornell students elected to the Ivy Council executive board shall be represented among the Cornell delegation. Also Additionally, five Ivy Council delegates will act as a policy liaisons between Cornell’s Student Assembly and the various student governance bodies of each Ivy League School. The policy liaisons shall maintain weekly correspondence with the policy liaisons of the other 7 Ivy League student governance bodies.

The head delegate will be charged with attending all Ivy Council virtual meetings, and organizing transportation and other pertinent logistics for Ivy Council summits and conferences. Delegates will be responsible for presenting to the Student Assembly Executive Board at least once per month and to the entire Student Assembly body at least once per semester. The purpose of the presentations is to detail 5 issues that fall into one or both of the following two categories:

• Issues other Ivy League schools are pursuing
• How other Ivy League schools have handled issues the Student Assembly is pursuing

Additionally, the delegation is responsible for attending following:

• Ivy Leadership Summit during fall semester
• Ivy Council Policy Conference during spring semester

Additional provisions for the delegation are as specified in the Constitution of the Ivy Council.
