Letter to President RE: Resolutions 77 and 84

Dear President Skorton,

I would like to formally communicate to you SA Resolutions 77 and 84. Both resolutions are summarized below.

R.77: Addressing the Student Activity Fee Endowment Fund - This resolution follows up on the discussion that began with the introduction of R.48 in Spring 2013.Turning from the original concept, this resolution proposes that the funds functioning as an endowment that the SA has is now used as an infrastructure fund. The goal of the fund is to invest money in larger infrastructure projects or facilities initiatives that will contribute to the undergraduate experience. The resolution describes the basic structure of the application process and particular criteria. Since the proposal establishes a commission (SAIFC), the charter and bylaws of the commission will be written and submitted for approval after this resolution sees an outcome.

R.84: Student Assembly Charter 2014–2016 Appendix B - This resolution marks the completion of the byline funding process. Minor changes were made to Appendix B of our Charter in order to promote the tracking of better attendance figures, to ensure that co-sponsored funds were used efficiently, and to provide liaisons between organizations and the SA. Some organizations received specific guidelines in order to ensure that their funds were spent in accordance with their discussions with the Appropriations Committee.

Also discussed was the introduction of a provision that would allow groups that have previously been byline-funded to again apply for byline funding without being considered a new applicant. This provision was made especially to benefit the Multicultural Greek Letter Council. It was brought to our attention that such a provision would actually have to be made in Appendix A, which we were not permitted to change at the time. It is our request that when your staff again convenes with the leadership of the Assembly to discuss eligibility requirements and such, that this provision be incorporated for the MGLC.

The resolutions and supporting documents are attached for your reference.

Regards,

Ulysses
