Letter to President RE: Resolutions 82 and 85
Dear President Skorton,
I would like to formally communicate to you the final two sense-of-the-body resolutions from our final SA meeting: Resolutions 82 and 85. I apologize for the delay—I was trying to make sure I graduated for real this time. Both resolutions are briefly summarized below.
R.82: Addressing First-Year TCAT Passes - This resolution is an affirmation of the University Assembly resolution regarding the same subject. Furthermore, this resolution serves to speak against a few of the ideas that were proposed by some of the faculty and others at the UA meeting, particularly the use of the Student Activity Fee to partially or fully fund the cost of the pass for the undergraduate users.
R.85: Supporting the Creation of an Official Cornell Mascot - This resolution calls for the formal adoption of Touchdown the Bear as the official mascot of Cornell. The final clause seeks to have this resolution forwarded to the Board of Trustees for consideration.
The resolutions are attached for your reference. These are the final resolutions that will be communicated from this year’s SA. Thank you and your team for being supportive of the shared governance system and the Student Assembly. I hope that everyone will take a vested interest in the topics that are brought before these assemblies, and to work collectively to make our system more accessible and responsive to the needs of our constituent groups. Thanks again for a great year and the shoutout at graduation!
Regards,
Ulysses
